Itinerary
Arrive at Kigali International Airport, where you’ll be met by your guide and transferred to your luxury hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you can relax and settle in or explore the city on your own. Accommodation Options: Kigali Serena Hotel / Lemigo Hotel / Luxury Hotel Rwanda
Start your day with a Kigali city tour, visiting key sites that tell the story of Rwanda's evolution: Kandt Museum: Learn about Rwanda’s colonial past and early history. Old Kigali: Walk through the colonial buildings and vibrant city life. Genocide Memorial Site: Gain insight into the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, reflecting on Rwanda's resilience. Craft Centres: Explore Rwanda’s unique crafts, including traditional art and jewelry. After the tour, drive to Volcanoes National Park (approximately 3 hours), home to the world’s mountain gorillas. Rise early and enjoy breakfast at your lodge before heading to the park headquarters for your gorilla trekking experience. After registration and a briefing, you will be assigned to a group of trekkers. Trekking through the dense forest in the shadow of the majestic Virunga Volcanoes, you will search for one of the mountain gorilla families. The trek can vary in length, depending on where the gorillas are located, but be prepared for an unforgettable experience as you encounter these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. After your trek, return to your lodge for a well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy optional activities or relax at the lodge. If you’d like, you can join an Intore Cultural Dance performance (extra cost of USD 30 per person) to experience traditional Rwandan dances and music. After breakfast, enjoy the scenic drive to Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s Great Lakes, where you will have time to relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Optional activities (at extra cost) include boat rides on the lake or visits to local villages. Later, begin your return journey to Kigali. On the way, pass through Rwanda’s lush plantations and rolling hills, making for a picturesque final stretch of your journey.
